The Organisation

Norwest Recruitment is proud to have been retained by Wellington Aboriginal Corporation Health Service (WACHS) for the recruitment of their newly created Aged Care Project Lead position supporting the Executive Manager Aged Care.

WACHS has the honour of being in the first 3 organisations nationally, specially selected for the launch of a new Aged Care program specifically catering to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

The Program is will drive improved client access to and quality of delivery for Home Care Packages (HCPs), Support Programs (CHSP), Respite facilities and Disability support for Indigenous Australians.

WACHS is going through a period of renewal and change with a firm focus on leadership, accountability, advocacy and community engagement through their range of programs and services. WACHS is a not-for-profit organisation providing specific health and specialist programs supporting clients/patients in addressing their wellbeing needs and issues in culturally appropriate ways.

You’ll be joining an engaged and driven leadership team, who are in turn well supported by a passionate Board of Directors. Along with their base in Wellington, WACHS incorporates Aboriginal Primary Health Care services covering Western Sydney, Penrith and the Nepean Blue Mountains and operational management of the Moree Aboriginal Residential Rehabilitation Service.

This is an opportunity to play a key role in a project which has significant support from all levels internal and external. This role is open to all qualified candidates with the required skills and experience to make this a success.

 

The Role

Reporting to the highly experienced Executive Manager, your expertise will support the leadership on the development and implementation of plans, programs, models and policies for improving Aged Care access and services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients within the WACHS service regions.

Based in Western Sydney, your experience and knowledge will be essential in building this new program for the organisation. Key to this will be the strategic and operational plans that you’ll be rolling out as well as working with the other teams to achieve the goals. Many plans are designed already but this is still something of a ‘greenfields’ project so you’ll need to be quite hands-on.

Your tasks and duties will include:

  • support for the implementation of systems, and development and introduction of governance risk and compliance (including audit) schedules and registers to comply with relevant standards
  • Develop project plans, timelines and milestones and their associated communications documents
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans
  • Building, developing, and growing business relationships vital to the success of the project
  • Working with the Executive Manager to oversee the roll out of the “Model of Care” for the integration of medical/health by primary health care, and installation of best practices in operational service delivery and corporate governance

 

About You

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Demonstrated experience in managing projects, including planning, execution, and monitoring -
  • Experience in Aged Care, Community Services, NDIS, Health or related sector is required – ideally also with an understanding of Aboriginal cultures
  • Understanding of governance frameworks within the Not-for-Profit sectors, regulatory compliance, ability to create and implement policies aligned with regulations.
  • Previous experience in developing and delivering user training programs
  • To be adept with different systems – you’ll be using Sharepoint, Logic QC, Employment Hero and others
